E-blasts are basically like direct mail postcards that you send via e-mail. They can include graphics and photographs and supply just a short burst of information about a sale, a promotion, an upcoming event, new product offerings, deadlines or news trends your clients may need to know about, among many other uses.

Mixed Media adheres to a strict policy of distributing e-blasts to e-mails that are strictly “opt-in,” meaning the owner of the e-mail address has given express permission to your business to send him or her an e-mail.

How do I collect e-mail addresses from my customers?

If you have a website, it’s a good idea to create a sign-up form on your website. Tools like Constant Contact generate HTML code to make creating an e-mail sign-form ridiculously easy. (If you run into snags, of course, we’re always available to help you make it happen.)

You should also send a friendly e-mail to your circle of influence — friends, colleagues, supportive family members — to invite them to you e-mailing list. Sit down with a pen and paper and think of everyone you know who might possibly be interested in receiving e-updates from your business. Chances are that before you know it, you’ll have a list of 50 to 100 people, if not more.

The simplest way is to create a sign-up sheet for your customers when they come into your place of business. You can simply use a full-sized clipboard and attached standard letter-sized sheets, but we recommend using a 6×9″ clipboard and cutting your sign-up sheets in half lengthwise (to create a 5.5 x 8.5″sheet). This will save you counter/desk space and allow you to have it visible for your customers at all times.

We’ve created some sign-up sheets as PDF files that you can download and print out. Sign-Up Sheet #1 can be used with a standard-sized clipboard and Sign-Up Sheet #2 can be used with a smaller 6×9″ clipboard. (You’ll need to cut the sheets in half.)
